Funding Dr. Hal's programs need not be a scary process.
A
variety of funding strategies are available for getting Dr.Hal to present
at your site;
Discuss Dr. Hal's program with your building principal. Often the principal delegates researching and selection of cultural programing to either a faculty or PTO/A committee. Find out who is on the committee and let them
know your interest in the kind of content Dr. Hal's programs provide.
PTA's and PTO's typically provide the majority of funds that support these programs.
Title 1 funds recently supported a full week residence w/expenses in Astoria, Oregon. Sponsoring a positive educational activity is a classey way for successful businesses to thank a community for their support. Dr. Hal will work with you to provide supporting information including recommendations and testimonials.
WHAT DOES IT COST?*
Dr. Hal aims fees so that the per child cost is not over $3. That is half the price of a movie theater ticket or less than a gallon of gas for a good part of the summer of 2006. Schools with small student populations that cannot meet these advertised fees should still contact Dr. Hal to discuss alternatives.
Not all programs fit neatly into the categories below but if they do here is an idea what it will cost:

Assemblies for entire student body (3 different programs aimed at age/grade level e.g. K-2, 3-5, 6-8 or for larger schools k-1, 2-3, 4-5) |
$750 plus expenses |

Assemblies for entire student body (2 different programs K-2, 3-5) |
$600 plus expenses |
1 |

If you are looking for special programing for individual classes or individual grades, student populations under 200, under 100 and under 50 ... call for fees that start at $250 plus expenses.
Discuss your need for a keynote speaker, teacher inservice, workshops on instrument making and playing with Dr. Hal. He will try to give you a quote that is within your budget. Also learn the benefits of finding additional schools willing to program Dr. Hal while he is in your area.
Workshop and artist-in-residence fees are a sliding scale based on the number of days plus expenses.

*Negotiated
Each year Dr. Hal presents a number of programs for a variety of charitable,
religious and service organizations whose resources cannot afford the fees
suggested above. Often those experiences lead to other program opportunities. Honorariums are negotiated, when appropriate, on a case by
case basis. Don't hesitate to get in touch with Dr. Hal if you believe your organization fits this category. |
